The process of veneering
can be traced back as far as ancient Egypt and has always played a major
role in the decorative elements of furniture making. Today, as our natural
resources continue to dwindle, the use of veneers will aid in extending
the life of the remaining stands of exotic trees.
The production of higher quality substrates has resulted in product excellence
that has gained worldwide acceptance. Moisture gain and loss has
been greatly curtailed by the pressing of veneer onto an inert substrate.
The ability to match in color, figure, and size has given veneered furniture
a distinct advantage over solid wood. Many of the beautiful natural configurations
and anomalies found in the trees being felled today are utilized to the
utmost advantage by slicing them into veneer. Also, the matching capabilities
are endless.
As we move into the 21st century, handmade furniture with veneer usage
will become more and more prominent. At Hesser Handcrafted, we specialize
in selecting custom veneers that meet the needs of each individual client.
